With reference to the group (Stikky Fingers), which was auditioned at the Royal Naval and Royal Marine Club.
The cohesion of the group is quite good musically with the lead singer also playing harmonica. This could be made use of. Their style has much of a sameness throughout, everything more or less in the same rhythm, and no variation. As a commercial proposition regarding Clubs or general entertainment they have very little value at present, but could possibly be used for teenage dance work in youth clubs etc or for charities involving young people.
The lead singer has a flat type voice which lends itself to being processed in a recording studio, supposing anything should be required in the groups idiom. The bass player is a girl, which is possibly an advantage from a presentation point of view. The group has possibilities but needs coaching and experience, and also an eye to more varied presentation.
A charity show in aid of the mentally handicapped is being held at the Trades & Labour Club, Beverley Road, Hull on Thursday 25th November, commencing 8.00 pm. This is a venue at which a great deal of experience can be obtained from a performance/presentation point of view, and it is with this in mind that the group have been included in the programme for the final spot of approx 20/30 minutes to provide late night dance music.This spot could be extended subject to available time.
In order to facilitate the smooth running of the programme it would be necessary to tune guitars and balance sound reproduction equipment prior to the commencement of the show, this would require the group to be at the Club at about 7.15pm latest.
